If you stop in at Salute Italian restaurant, don't be surprised to find proprietor and Chef Gaetano DeLuca belting out some Frank Sinatra or dancing.DeLuca chose the name "Salute" to represent the celebration of life that he creates daily in his authentic Italian eatery. The word in Italian means "health." DeLuca's philosophy is, "Everybody has good and bad days. When you go out to dine, it's a time of family, no worries. You want to have a good time. Salute is about family, good food and saluting good health."

Born in Calabria, Italy, DeLuca grew up in Baltimore, learning his family's restaurant business and eventually becoming a chef. He claims his specialty calamari appetizer has held the record of Baltimore Magazine's "Best of Baltimore" since 1997.

"I don't cut corners," "Everything is fresh. It may cost a little more, but it's always the best."

Salute imports many ingredients, coffee and desserts from Italy. "The only way to make authentic Italian food is with authentic Italian ingredients," DeLuca reasoned.

On a visit to Florida i asked around where i could get a great meal. Everyone seemed to be pointing to a new restaurant in town. After visiting Salute i was so impressed i hated leaving. The food was outstanding and unique ( unlike most restaurants). Prices well below market - especially for the quality. service was attentive and the owner alone made the experience wonderful. Will return asa soon as i can.

After our first visit in January prior to the news paper write up my family fell in love with the place. We have been there several times a month since then. We even like to have our after church Sunday brunch there. The owner and the staff show they care and are always pleasant. We try different foods each time we go and we are always pleased with our choices. The Calamari is always fresh and tender, not gummy. The house breads are always fresh and warm and all the pasta dishes are cooked just right. Everytime we go, the food reminds us of the authentic italian food we ate in Italy during our vacation. Just try it once and you'll keep coming back. Salute' !!

My husband took me out to this new Italian restuarant that just opened in town.At first i thought he was trying to weasle out of taking me to a fancy place.AFter eating there on valentine day , i was so thankful that he chose it, it turned out to be one of the best meals i ever had in my life.the service , attention and food was amazing. the owner is so much fun as he visits all the tables to make sure everyone is happy.On top of having an amazing night of fun and great food, the bill did not break the bank. A meal like that would have easily cost us over $ 60 anywhere else.We got an appetizer each, a dinner and dessert with wine for less then $45 for both.We are going to make this place at least a biweekly event

Have been to Salute many times since they have opened. Every meal has been fantastic. Their use of crabmeat is great in their dishes. Have brought friends and relatives and everyone enjoyed their meal. The staff is very attentive and the food is served and presented beautifully. Whether it is a personal pizza or the wonderful lobster ravioli everything thing is great.

I stumbled into this cute Italian restaurant after reading the review in the local paper.It was one of the best experience i ever had. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. You pay at least 20 % more any where else.The service was professional and attentive. I plan to eat there many other times in the future and tell all my friends.If you have not eaten there yet, you are missing a treat
